More than 200 actresses were considered for the role, but Ward ultimately won it and delivered a performance that made her an international star.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the show&#8217;s enormous success, Ward later admitted that negative reviews made her question her acting. While filming <em>The Thorn Birds<\/em>, Ward fell in love with her co-star Bryan Brown, who played Luke O&#8217;Neill.
