Hidden Goofs and Bloopers in Leave It to Beaver

Leave It to Beaver looked almost picture-perfect—but a few surprising mistakes slipped through.

In “The Poor Loser,” the Cleaver home displays a 1961 calendar even though the episode aired in 1963. A baseball ticket also misspells the family’s hometown, Mayfield, as “Mayfied.”

Barbara Billingsley’s famous pearls reportedly helped hide a small neck scar, while her high heels balanced her height next to her growing TV sons.

Jerry Mathers and Tony Dow were close friends off-screen too, which helped make Beaver and Wally’s bond feel so natural.

The show even pushed boundaries by showing a toilet seat at a time when bathrooms were considered almost too controversial for television.

These little bloopers and behind-the-scenes secrets make the classic sitcom even more memorable.
