Dolly Parton Dies at 80 After Health Struggles
Dolly Parton’s nephew announced her death on August 25, just days after the singer had spoken publicly about her health and future plans.
Parton had faced health problems for months, postponing and later canceling a planned Las Vegas residency. She had said she was responding well to treatment and still hoped to continue working.

“My name is Brin Seaver, son of Cassie Parton, and I’m representing the Parton and Owens family today announcing the passing of my aunt, Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean, Sister, Sis and Granny to one generation and Gigi to the next,” her nephew says in the video.
Born in Tennessee in 1946, Parton grew up as one of 12 children in a poor family. She moved to Nashville after high school and rose to fame through The Porter Wagoner Show, eventually becoming a country music legend with hits including “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and “9 to 5.”
Her success extended to Hollywood, Dollywood, and philanthropy. Through her Imagination Library, she helped provide free books to children.
Parton was also married to Carl Dean for nearly 60 years until his death in March 2025. She later honored him through her music and spoke about how deeply she felt his loss.
